Smile Air Conditioner/Alternator

Well last week on the way home from upstate my car's dashboard lights flickered on and eventually i lost all powered and the car died. I had to have to the car repaired upstate and they replaced the alternator. One the way home everything was fine but when i began to open her up getting on the highway at about 5000 rpm in 4th gear the battery light flickered on and at one point she studdered a bit but after a minute or two everything was fine and I made it home with no problem. Do you think there is still an issue or just a glitch? I thought maybe it was a loose wire or maybe even a bad tensioner? Any input...
Besides that my AC has been acting up lately and only blows out hot...We charged the system at my shop today and thought maybe we didn't put enough in. Anyone know the exact amount the car takes in pounds? Any other things to check for? And are the compressors easily heard because I don't think I hear it but It seems like its running. Thankss...

when alternator dies - the car isn't supposed to die, you can run on the battery until it gets empty
sounds like the guys might have gotten some extra bucks on you..
the problem maybe faulty crankshaft speed sensor, i had similar symptoms and replaced the sensor myself, everything is fine since then

the crankshaft speed sensor symptoms also are
- engine stops while idling,
- if you're driving, you feel the loss of power and when you idle the revs are higher, around 1100 rpms
- takes extra time to start engine for the first time
- starts OK after
- a light may come on, not sure what exactly, ECU maybe..
- throws a CEL
