apr chip question
hi i called a shop over in canoga park about chipping my 04 audi a4 1.8t and he told me that i would get a 65hp boost. this is for an apr chip. ive never heard more than a 35-40 hp for this chip. is he just pulling my chain?
also i dont know much about this stuff but he said its not actually a chip just a software thing for my car, didnt really know what he meant, i thought there was an actual chip to put in.
thanks for your help guys

Apr chip in NY would be the sam APR chip here in IL.
Go to their officia website and see the gains. But u should undestand the the hp/tq you will get might be slightly different due to the wheather/sea level/other mods you got.
Maybe that guy meant stage 1+ but you would need to buy new bigger injectors.

it is what it is, do you HONESTLY know what 40 vs 65 hp is going to feel like? the number the dealer gives you doesn't mean anything, your going to get what the flash is going to give you no matter what they tell you it is.
your gain is going to be based on a bunch of different factors (altitude, temp, mods, ect) and just because the flash "adds 65hp" does not mean you can just add 65 to the base 180hp to get 245hp.
and yes, it's not a physical "chip", it's just software they flash onto the chip that is already on your ECU, overwriting the stock software and using the new software instead. they will hook a laptop to the diagnostic port on the car and just download the software to it, takes maybe 10-15 minutes.
just get it done and you will be happy.
