Audi symphony XM module volume adjustment
I added a DICE module to my Symphony Bose radio to connect My Ipod and my cell phone and after doing so I noticed that the XM volume was not up to par with the CD changer volume or my Ipod volume. The internal CD changer is the loudest then the Ipod is less louder and finally the XM tuner is very quiet. I did not notice if adding the DICE module caused this so I pulled the radio and connected the XM tuner directly (as OEM installed) and got the same results (low volume output from the XM tuner) so it does not appear to be the DICE module causing the problem. I contacted the dealer and they told me there is nothing they can do and they have not heard of this problem before. I did a search on the net and found nothing related.
Does anyone know if I can remove the XM tuner and adjust the output volume? If not does anyone know of a way to disassemble the XM tuner and change the final output resistors/amplifier? I know its an analog input to the radio so I could add a pre amp but that may add distortion and as we all know XM sounds awful by its self anyway (too compressed). At this point my only option is to build a small pre-amp to boost the analog output of the XM tuner. I know this works because my cell phone uses the same channel and boosting the output gain of the cell phone increases the volume on the radio. I was hoping someone would know of a Pot. adjustment somewhere that would be a quick fix. Thanks for any help you can offer…

The only time I need the XM radio to be louder is when the top is down and I am on the expressway. I can hear the CD and ipod just fine but when listening to XM (BPM or Laugh Attack) I can’t hear the radio over the traffic noise. Listening to Laugh Attack is impossible with the top down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also thinking of adding another amp to the stereo and adding more speakers, but if I do that I might just as well remove the factory radio and install my alpine head unit and a steering wheel control adaptor. I will then have to buy a XM module for my alpine head unit. I really did not want to do that until my extended 100k warrantee is over. Should be in another 2 years or so.
