B6 wont stay on

Default B6 wont stay on

Like the title says, my sisters b6 will turn on just fine but then turn off after a few seconds. i dont have much info because the car is in Colorado and im in Texas. ill get some more info tomorrow but thats all i got in the voice mail. oh ya also it starts every time but then it dies. it has plenty of fuel 1/2 tank according to her. any ideas i can send her way? edit 1.8t, revo chip auto trans

Ask her if there is a little yellow car flashing in her instrument cluster, if it is its the immobilizer. Ask her to use a different key and see if that works.

my sister took it to the dealership and it came back with a faulty chip reader that reads the information off the key. its going to take over a week to get this part shipped in.

Thats what i was leading at, the immobilizer reader isn't cheap to replace either.
