Battery Drain -- Weird Symptoms
oh sweet. thanks for digging that up. i think ill replace them just to eliminate the possibility.
also i did find something interesting. when i disconnect the instrument light fuse, this illuminates the climate control unit... but when i remove that fuse as well, the draw drops to about .25-.3 which i understand is normal.
Hmm i guess i need to get my hands on those radio removal keys and start digging... FML

Would I be able to trouble someone to try a quick test that would help me immensely? Basically, I am trying to figure out whether it's "normal" for the Climate Control Unit to illuminate when the fuse for the Instrument lights is pulled out. Would someone be so kind to test this out and let me know what you see? Thanks very much!!
Yes, my climate control unit do light up by pulling instrument cluster fuse (number 15). I think that's normal....my is also 02 A4 1.8t.
Try changing the cable it was the positive cable that they change, if u r doing it yourself it will be a cheap fix and I won't hurt to try.
Let me know what happen if u do change the cable, I would have do it myself if the car wasn't in their shop 35 miles away....
Just FYI I search all over the Internet to find solution and no correct answer, hope this help.

Hi im new to this site, ive owned an audi a3 for nearly a yr now (its a 53 plate 2.0 fsi) today i noticed both brake light bulbs blown so i replaced those went to start the engine a little later and it was hardly turning over,i called the A A out he got it started and said i have a battery drain of 1.3 amps on it !! the car has never not started, i also have the petrol gauge doing funny things i'll fill up and it will drop to empty in about a week and i know ive not done that many miles then the petrol warning light will come up on dash then go back up to half say the next day.!! can anyone help me please !
I too have battery drain all of a sudden. (98 A6)
I've been searching the forums and found that a few people have narrowed it to fuse 15 which is the cluster and a/c. I'll try the battery cable and let you know if it worked.

Hiya I have an audi 2.0 tdi sport with exact same battery drain.. Drains over 24 hour period.. When I lock the car my a/c unit lights up and my hazard light remain on 24/7 .. Took it to an audi specialist who said it was the speedo cluster...I removed the for 2days then put back in and my car still wouldn't start so it's clearly not that that's draining my battery. Can anyone help.. So one must have resolved this problem.
