Battery Replacement
Hey guys,
I have a question about replacing my battery and wether it is a DIY job. At first i completely figured it would be an easy job, but when i took out the cover i realized it had an extra input other than the normal positive and negative leads. Car specs are 2002 1.8t quattro. Would i be able to set this up myself or do you think i should get someone with more experience to do it? Also after i unhook all of the leads and inputs can i just pull the battery out or would that require extra bolts to be unscrewed? Sorry for being such a rookie lol!
thanks

Your'e absolutely right. I try to help out as much as possible by usually providing absolutely every bit of knowledge on a help topic I have at my disposal and most of that amounts to garage logic and alot of head scratching. Its been a bad couple of weeks for me and my car, not so much catastrophic failures that are easy to pinpoint more like nuisances that eat away at me when I am unable to diagnose them myself. As I am off of work currently due to back injury with surgery scheduled tomorrow I am in mid project with the car and have run into a challenge that I would like to solve before I am unable due to the surgery and then recovery. When I responded to your question I did so with little attention to how I may come across to you and did not really consider that maybe you do not have the resources at your disposal that I may have such as tools and the bentley manual (were in the same boat when it comes to cash my friend). I was not intending to come across as an egomaniac I was just extremely frustrated with my car and I may have relieved some of that in my response to your question. So I would like to apologize blacklabelz9. Wish I would have responded in a more positive and helpful manner. I hope you have the issues with your car under control, if not I have the Manual on DVD and would be happy to send that info to you should you still need it. Again I'm sorry for coming across negatively.

its cool man i just really dont know "that" much about my car yet and i really dont want to do anything wrong, resulting in even greater damage/cost lol. I've been able to do a lot on my own but everytime i do something new i really try to find out what the outcomes may be as well as trying to get every bit of advice before any attempt in reconstruction. No hard feelings man. Good luck on your surgery and with your car. Bottom line is that Audi's require so much work, and need the greatest of care/attention lol i might hit you up for more help if i need it but for now im going to try to change my battery tomorrow. Cheap replacement really but its still making my pockets cry lol
peace man

Thanks man I've been feeling pretty crummy since you called me out on that bad attitude I had going today. I really appreciate the no hard feelings. I'll gladly help out with any questions or troubleshooting you have to the best of my abilities. If you get nowhere searching this site here are a few others that have helped me out considerably:
www.audizine.com, www.a4mods.com, www.audigeeks.com.
Audi's are a pain to work on but with enough braindamage I think one will be able to justify the time and money spent to keep it on the road. Good luck man. I'll help where I can.

Hi in response to the battery replacement on a B6 A4, i will say, if you can find an 8inch ball ended allen key, then your life is going to be made a lot easier... This is the biggest hurdle of them all.... Getting that retaining bolt out with a 6inch is a painful process. Also i have a cab.. Don't know if this is common on the regular A4's but there's a strut running accross making space VERY TIGHT... and it also means that you can never take the bolt out of its housing, so if it strips (as mine nearly did) you are gonig to be taking apart the strut.. Unfortunately i was sold the incorrect battery, so i need to do the job again this eve, this time using the proper battery that i bought from Audi, instead of auto parts...
