Default Brake Light problem

Hi All!! New on the site and looking for some ideas.

I have an 04 A41.8T Quattro and recently have been having issues with my right brake light going out. It's very intermittent....sometimes it works fine and then just sitting there (like at a red light or stop sign) it will go out. Then later on the drive it may kick back in and work fine. I replaced the bulbs and cleaned the contacts, but that did not seem to help any. I checked over the wires that you can see near the tail light and they all seem intact and no signs of breakage. Any ideas as to what I could check next? It's only the right brake light....all other lights work as advertised.

Thanks for any light you can shed on the situation.

I did check that and I have also swapped bulbs from left to right to see if that helps. No luck. I am just hoping that I can figure this out and that it doesn't turn into a big bill down the line.

Try changing the brake switch.

I had a similar issue with my LH Brake light and did a resistance check from one brake light bulb to the other brake light bulb and found the metal run on the assembly that provides the power and ground to the bulbs was the issue. For me it was the power side that had the issue.
