a/c advice
Hope someone has seen this problem before.
Using the DIY option of buying a can of r134a coolant,
I tried to put it in myself. Shook can, connected the fitting to the low side and started the motor. Turned up the a/c and checked the gauge on the can. It was in the red. Made sure the compressor was on, everything looked ok, same thing. Called the help line for IDQ, he said to leave the car running for 35-45 minutes to get the compressor time to pull some into the system, as it my be to low on r134a. My problem, it didn't work, and the can feels as heavy as when I started. Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

I'm by no means an AC expert but I figured I would donate what little knowledge I have. It is my understanding that on our cars there is no easy way to recharge the AC system. I have not read ANY confirmed reports of someone having success with the self recharge kits like the one you bought (which doesn't necessarily mean that it wont/cant work).
As I understand it, you need to have the AC recharged at a shop that has one of those machines that can monitor the pressure on both sides of the compressor. Not sure of why or how it works.
good luck, let us know how everything works out.
