Default a/c compressor failure, but clutch engaging

Hi, i have a problem with my a/c not blowing cold, took it to audi and they're saying the clutch on the compressor engages but the high pressure side reading is too low and the low pressure side is reading too high. they said i'd have to replace the compressor.

any alternatives or ideas on why the pressure readings are weird?

thanks.

Default A/C clutch Engaged but no air

I have seen this problem one too many times. Im an EPA cartified Ac technician. Your problem is simple. The reason why your high side is low and your low side is high is simply because your pistons in your compressor have gone bad. They wont compress which cause an equalization of pressure on both (High and Low) sides. Yeah dude you need a new comnpressor. Hope this helps...

Also there is no coming back from this, this compressor is a sealed hermetic unit which can't be rebuilt. Sorry dude...

There's a high pressure switch that causes this symptom as well.

If it was the pressure switch, the compressor clutch wouldnt be engaging.

Its not the high pressure switch, if it was on the high side your symtoms would be ( your ac compressor kicking on and off repeatedly). Thats telling me that you have air nons ( air and non condensable gases in your system ) followed by a leak somewhere in the system.

hi formanrjr and dallas 09,

thanks to both of you for the replies, my dealership and the audi technicians are pretty confident with the compressor failure, and thanks to formanrjr, i can be sure now. dealership decided to do the job of free (freon r134a and labour) all i have to pay is 690 (CDN) for a new compressor from denso. hope this one doesn't fail again.
