Cam adjuster replacement gone wrong
SYMPTOMS
Car no longer turns over immediately, takes multiple tries
The Idle goes from 8 to 9 hundred when sitting
Implausible signal from the cam timing sensor
Occasionally is in limp mode if the capacitors are not dead
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO THE CAR
A month ago I replaced my cam adjuster as it was likely leaking oil. I removed the cam and the adjuster (it was replaced with an oem part not oe) and after reassembly the car then threw the implausible signal from the cam timing position sensor. I then replaced the original cam timing pos sensor with a Bremi version. This did not fix the issue.
WHAT I THINK THE PROBLEM IS
Either planned obsolescence with the replacement of a non OE part. A faulty wire in the harness. I do not believe the timing is off considering if the car does not put itself in limp mode it runs great
