Car Starts. runs for a fraction of a second then stalls
2003 1.8T motor with automatic trans. Sometimes the car starts and runs fine. Other times it will start and run for a quick second and then stall. If you feather the throttle a bit on start its never a issue. Just not sure where to start. I don't want to just start guessing and replacing parts. Car has 110,000 on it approximately. I'm assuming it has the original fuel pump/injectors/ect installed. I don't think the previous owner really kept up with recommended maintenance to well either, my girlfriend bought this car at 105,000 nearly to the tee. Thanks in advance!
Just threw in some new plugs today. Not sure if this has solved the problem or not. The old plugs seemed a bit oxidized. If not I guess I'll be moving to the fuel system next. Forgot to mention car does not have a CEL.
This problem was solved by changing the fuel filter. The car runs better, automatic trans is much more smooth as well as idle. This is a must do for any pre-owned Audi owner. Especially if the first owner was neglecting their car.
I noticed the replies are someone lacking here. I figured my issue was either air/fuel/spark related. I was just hoping I didn't have to do injectors or a fuel pump. At any rate, I decided to share what my issue was hoping it will help someone else out down the road.
