Cold Weather/Brake Lights
Hey guys, I've got the strangest problem I've ever encountered with this car. When it gets to below 35 degrees or so outside, my brake lights come on by themselves. At some point in the middle of the night while I am sleeping, my cars brake lights come on by themselves and inevitably kill my battery. Can anyone please help me with this..it's such a pain.
The only thing that i can think of is gnomes and/or gremlins living in your car....
Or, I may be completely wrong on this but possibly when it gets cold the fluid in your ABS pump shrinks and allows the brake pedal to compress slightly turning on your brake lights. Try shoving something behind the brake pedal at night and see it that works. I had this same problem with a Ford Windstar. You could also try to pump your brakes after the car is off to build up pressure in the pump.

Thank you...those ideas sound great and like they would work. I will give those things a try over the next couple of days. Should I add more brake fluid or is there anything more permanant I can do anyone can think of?
Had the exact problem last year, it turned out to just be a bad brake light switch. I don't remember it costing muxh at all to replace.
worse feeling ever is coming out in the freezing morning to your brake lights being on and your car not starting.
