i would suggest calling over to your dealer and trying to get a diagram for your model. tell him you're looking for a part and not sure how to describe it to him and ask him to fax a diagram so that you can figure out what part you need, or something of the sort.

So I know im bringing back a thread from a loooonngg time ago but oh well. So I know my nipple is leaking on my crossover pipe. I've been searching and i can not find a replacement nipple to buy along with a new washer. Is this something i can buy at any auto parts store? Or is it a specific Audi/vw part?

If you have a dealer close by I would suggest that route.
If you live in a remote area I would advise calling a dealer and order the parts you need over the phone. They should be aware of the problem and point you in the right direction.

turns out the nipple was NOT the source of my leak. thankfully i realized that about halfway through pulling stuff out to get there. i did get my hands on a cooling system diagram and realized that there are at least two seals on the crossover pipe that are also very prone to leaks in this area. knowing i was never going to be able to get all the way down there on my own, i finally took it to an audi mechanic and made him suffer the pain instead. He replaced all of the seals in sight while back there, all of which ended up being about 3 hours of labor.
i'm happy to share the cooling diagram with you (and anyone else for that matter), though i received it via fax from the dealer and once scanned, it's far too big to post here. send me your email and i can email it to you (or any others who would like to have it).
