Default in-dash Cup Holder Mods ?

are there any mods or replacement parts for the in dash cup holder to make it not suck ?

im sure you all have the same problems as I do with it not holding anything taller than about three inches.

Or could I just take it out and put like an ipod dock there or something

I just hate having the space wasted

LOL I've seen people swap a second cup holder IN to the credit card slot, giving them a whopping zero beverage storage slots because they still suck at holding beverages. Wait there's the two arm rest cup holders that pour beverages into your passengers lap every time you shift! Or the two that pop out of the rear center-armrest which compete with the front for the shortest-allowable-cup award. I think there are two areas Audi messed up in on the A4s, that's cup holders and handbrake/armrest placement. Granted, the hand brake and the armrest, separately, are perfect. Just that they don't get along.

As far as mods go, you could put in a second credit card holder. The cup-holders in the back are adjustable width-wise, so they hold a little better I guess. Getting it out is a PITA anyways, but I'd love to do some custom lighting or something, keep us all posted if you find anything out!

You have to remember that germans don't like cupholders, they think when you're driving you should pay attention to the road not your coffee. Me personally, i would put a Greddy turbo timer in there (fits perfectly) but since you have a 3.0L i guess you just have to live with it.

In theory if the cupholder was a little more solid, it'd be great. Its right in front of the AC/Heater vent. Keeps beverages cold or hot. It was well thought out and completely botched at the same time.

I still say Audi botched the cupholder thing, but it wasnt completely thoughtless as far as placement goes... Well, sorta, drip a few drops of coffee on your Symphony head unit like I did and you'll be saying otherwise LOL

i havent really had any complaints. the only thing i think is really stupid is the cup holders in the arm rest...wtf are you supposed to do with your arm with a drink in there?! mine works well i always buy the big cans of arizona tea and its never spilled or anything, but the damn thing does like to stick once in a while and not pop out smoothly
