DIY for Pre-CAT O2 Sensors
Hi Everyone,
How difficult is it to change the two pre-cat O2 sensors on the B6?
I'm resurrecting a very old issue I'm having in my 2003 Q4 Quattro 3.0. I had an ignition coil go bad back in mid 2007... (Audi later issued a recall for all coils and the remaining 5 were replaced in 2008). Anyway, the car was bucking and I had all sorts of issues limping roughly 5 miles home... When I got it home, the engine bay smelled like something very HOT. I remember the driver side O2 sensor was GLOWING cherry red.
Shortly thereafter, the CEL came on with OBDII codes P0421/P0431 and has been on ever since... It just hit my memory (ok I'm SLOW!) that the cherry red O2 sensor preceded these codes.
The car had always been meticulously kept. New plugs, filters, oil, top tier fuel, etc since Day 1. Since the car now has like 166k on the clock, I'm thinking if it's easy to replace the two pre-cats, it might be money well spent vs replacing the CATS.
Thoughts?
