Hello,

I have a 2004 A4 Quattro. It has about 80K. The engine light just turned on the car and also I can hear a noise coming form the engine compartment (under the hood). I think the noise seems like it is coming from he front right side of the car, though I might be worng. The noise is mostly noticeable when the car is being driven and not in park. The noise sounds like some engine belt or something rolling. Has anybody encountered this issue before?

You better take you car to a mechanic asap just to see what is going on. And get a CEL code for free from any AutoZone.

 

i just came home from driving my sisters audi. 2004 1.8T quattro 88000kms. i got the exact same thing. the light went on. the rpms jittered. the acceleration sucked. i came home as soon as i could. i looked at the temp guage stuck in the middle. i came home. opened the door heard a funky noise. looked from under the hood/under the car... i opened the hood. something was glowing red (really hot) i got scared shut off the car and ran in the house. could it be the cat. converter?
