Default Error Code Too Lean Fuel Filter?

I travel the same route to work each day. On section, I travel up a steep hill in 5th with a speed of about 55. As soon as I hit the hill, the CEL light comes on with "enigne too lean, bank 1". I reset and I'm fine till I hit the hill section again.

Were should I look to fix?

Someone suggested a boost leak or possibly a fuel filter.

Can is an 02 1.8 with APR Stage 1 plus, 386 injectors, K & N filter with 84K miles.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

J

What is the trouble code? Do you have P0171? Broken vacuum line or check valve will cause lean running condition and idle problem. In your case, i think you have MAF sensor problem. Also get rid of the K&N filter after installing a new MAF sensor.

Clean the MAF. I've run for 30k miles so far on K&N panel without issue. As long as you don't over oil the thing you shouldn't screw your MAF.

I had the same issue, and it cost me $300 bucks to find out it was just a simple $6.00 fix. My issue was the MAF sensor was dirty, I'm guessing oil from my K&N filter got it dirty or something, i bought some MAF sensor cleaner from autozone, cleaned mine up. and wa la problem solved. try that before you go off spending all kinds of cash for something you dont need. hope this helps.
