gas cover not locking

gas cover not locking
for some odd reason my gas cover does not lock anymore when i lock the car. you know that little pin inside that shoots out when you lock the car. well that doesnt come out anymore. does anyone have any idea what i may do to fix this. any help would be appreciated. thanks
