HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im confused about all the questions now, LOL
Coolant is better be changed with the timing belt job, unless its leaking out-do that while you fixing the leak.
Freon- recharge when u feel your AC doesnt blow that cold air anymore.

where can you get g12? My A4 1.8t has 54000 or so miles. I'd of normal for the coolant (antifreeze) to get low enough to set off the dash indicator? I can smell it as well? Please help.
Mine coolant has been lower than usual but it doesn't really set off the warning light til you're almost out. Just check your coolant reservoir and make sure it aint empty or way lower than the marked lines. You can get the G12 at a VW or Audi dealer. Also probly online for about $25 a gallan.
EDIT: porsche2audi: how do u smell your AF? Unless you got a hardcore leak onto your IMF you shouldn't be smelling that sh*t. Cuz it smells nasty.
And to clear things up for the OP:
Forget the A/C thing, you don't need that. Freon is not a liquid, its a gas that's condensed to cold air thru your A/C compressor. So when somebody's talking about a coolant 'fluid' they mean anti-freeze.
Coolant/antifreeze are the same thing. Its used through your radiator to cool your engine. Its vital for proper functioning. I would get the leak fixed and top off the fluid. 280 is a lot IMO. Take it to a respectable lube shop and they usually do it for less than 100 if you bring your own coolant from the dealer. As for the oil leak it seems that the pan gasket is fried. That's a PITA and you should have a shop do it if your not inclined to be a grease monkey

Ive had my car flushed before. It cost my 90 dollars for the whole deal. Got the G12 fron a vw dealership. It was pink yes and I also had my cam tension gasket thing leak also. That was quiet expensive to fix and its something u need to get done soon. The further you drive with it ur just goin to burn ur oil away. The oil tends to leak out when the car loses pressure in the system and it comes out of the gasket. Its located in the upper driverside near the firewall but far down there. U will see some smoke start to come from the front of your car when u stop or turn it off but it will seem to run fine the rest of time. Any other question?
