Help - Car dies on side of road, won't start.
I filled up with gas at a reputable station(from empty), and 10 minutes later the car dies while I'm driving to work. There are no warning lights on the dash, no unusual noises (although I thought I heard something odd when I started it in the am). I thought I felt a stutter several days before while under cruise control on the highway. It turns over fine, but won't catch. Plenty of power. The gas cap is tight. No previous symptoms. Temps are in the 70's (f).
I tried to restart 4 hours later to no avail.
2004 1.8tq, 43k miles, all services performed.
Fuel pump? Relay?
Help? I'd love a "simple" solution. I hate my local dealer.
I was on the phone talking about trading the car in for a newer Audi when it died. Could this be some automotive hurt feeling thing?
Thanks.

Yeah I wish it were free.
I'm at 43k, but I've owned the car for 50 months... ie. 2 months out of warranty.
Thanks anyway. I'm going to get it towed to the stealer today and let them figure it out.

Coil packs will only make your car run rough (when one goes out), and you will have a flashing CEL.. I have heard a couple stories that sound very familiar to yours, and they ended up having to have the fuel pump replaced.
WOW! I had this problem last week and at 60k Audi did provide the free roadside service even tho i bought did not buy the car from one of their dealers nor do i have warranty. I had just changed the filter 2 days before and audi replaced the pump which caused the problem. Also according to Audi there are no recalls on 2004 A4s which is odd especially since so many b6 owners have the same issue. The repairs cost me $600+ btw.
Here's the breakdown...
$85 for the tow
$520 for new fuel pump/installation at local audi stealer.
btw- AFAIK the fuel pump recall was only on '03 cars.
