Help coolant leak by exhaust

Default Help coolant leak by exhaust

Hi everyone, just when i thought i was done changing my thermostat i found a small leak by the exhaust behind the engine by the firewall i camt tell where its cOming from . Anyone have ideas or have delt with this? I noticed when i stopt my car and smelled burned coolant.. I have a 1.8t

It is quite possible that the coolant pipe near the exhaust manifold might have developed a crack, causing it to leak near the exhaust like you mentioned. Replace the exhaust manifold gasket and the coolant seal.

And could this be the cause of me having air in the cooling system?? My radiator does t get that hot telling me my new thermostat ismt opening, and im not getting any heat inside when i turn heater on?!?!

okay retype what you said cuz im kinda not sure with the grammer mistakes what u are trying to say. But yes if u hace a leak back there is very well could be that its letting air get into the system. Best way to flush air out of the system is to turn the car on let it warm up. Unscrew your resivoir cap slowly. It will create overflow and let out coolant thru the port at the bottom of the resivior. do that a couple of times and see if the heat comes on. Also u will need g12coolant or distilled water if u do this as you will lose a good amount of coolant. IF there is still no heat i would check the coolant flange and see if u can replace it.

Not sure if an a4 has the same pump as my a6 but I had a similar leak. There was a secondary auxiliary coolant pump under the intake on top of the center of the block. It had cracked and that is where my leak was coming from. Replaced the little pump and was good to go.
