I bought a 2005A4 (B6) a few weeks ago from a local VW dealer. It has 36,000 miles and is in great shape. After only putting 250 miles on it over the past 3 weeks, I just started it and it idles very rough and is jerkydriving it just 5 mph. The check engine light is on. Any idea what the problem could be??

 

Could be a bad coil pack. Quick and cheap to fix if so

 

Read the codes or find someone who can, probably a coil pack. It should still be under warranty. If not coil packs are $30 each.

 

Both you guyswere right on. The shop identified it as a bad coil pack for cylinder #4. I had them replace all four to eliminate any future problems again. The engine purrs like a kitten now.

 

keep the good coil packs just incase casue u might need em someday
i keep 2 good coilpacks in my care
