Default Help urgent!!!!!

HI

i need to know if i drained the ATF or Engine oil this afternoon when i was trying to do an engine oil swap.

i have a 2002 audi a4 3.0 quattro and the plug i removed was an allen bolt that what seemed to be oil that was drained out of it. i then saw photos of people online that use a 19mm socket or spanner to undo the drain plug on the oil pan, does this engine have 2 drain plugs or have i seriously stuffed up??

The engine and the transmission each have a separate drain plug, and the transmission has a drain plug. The engine and transmissions use different types of oil, and they are not interchangeable. The engine drain is a 6 sided plug that takes a normal socket, the transmission uses a 12 point double hex key, similar to an allen key but with 12 points instead of 6, but you can jam an allen key in there and it may or may not work. I really suspect you drained the transmission. Check the oil level in the engine with the dip stick, and if it shows oil, then you know what you did.

19mm socket is what the drain plug for the oil is.

14mm allen is what the transmission plug is
