Default How do you remove cluster/swap backlighting

Tried searching but no luck (with regards to b6'ers) Looking to take out the cluster and replace the backlighting with red led's. Done it on many other cars and really miss the red I had in the B5. Does anyone know if this is possible or does it have electroluminaniscedsfsds whatever. If not do I need to have it reprogrammed once removed or will it be happy with its exact unit back in and start?

Thanks

don't know if this helps, but on my old b5 all of my dash lights started going out and i bought the kit from blauparts (dont think they sell it any more). After that it was a simple take out the dash and unscrew the old ones and screw the new ones in. I have a B6 now and haven't taken the dash out yet so i don't know if it works the same though

If it has actual bulbs then its an extremely simple and cheap mod. 20 bucks give or take for any color you want, just trying to find out if there are bulbs - and if so how does the cluster come out

here you go: Cluster removal (hope its ok i can post that)

looks exactly the same as the removal for the B5 i had, unfortunately it doesn't look like it has the same bulbs. but maybe if you remove it and peek around you'll be able to find something. just fyi i do remember it being a complete PITA to remove one of the harnesses and german plastic is known to break at the slightest touch, so just dont force anything
