I have an 05 A4 1.8T quattro..completely stock. What would be the easiest (I'm no mechanic) way to boost my hp? Chip? K&N kit?

 

Chip will give u about 35-40% increase of your hp/tq.
Filter wont do anything.

 

get a flash from either APR 1+, REVO stage IIor GIAC FX along with OEM tt225 386cc injectors(PM manuyen on www.audizine.com for a good price on them)

There is no like 15hp difference between those ecu upgrades, so either way you go it should be fine.
I would just find the nearest dealer or the one with a good customer service and upgrade there.
And yeah get a chip with a bigger injectors file.

 

I got the APR stage 1+ w/injectors and 93 octane programming and it made a huge difference go with someting along that nature.

 

Some of the big tuners have a "trial" flash, this means you can try the flash for about 5-6 hrs(key on time) before paying for the real thing.

 

^^^ Mike is right. I know for sure Revo does that for free -5hrs, and i think APR charges like $10 or so.
