Unhappy i dont know if it is the clutch???

so i was driving my car today and it was normal i was in 3rd gear and wanted to slow down so i pushed my brakes then tried to change in to 1st gear my car starts to jerk and the clutch pedal becomes less ressistant i turn off the car and put in 1st and it starts moving but when i want to change gears the car wont allow me to do so could this be a clutch problem???
and if it is what is the cheapest route to me replacing the clutch?

It does sound indeed like the clutch is gone. OEM or indy shop for replacement.

Could just be air in the line or a bad slave cylinder since you said the pedal feels much softer then it did before.

Good point. But how did the air get in on the first place?

BTW nice seeing you around where have you been?

A change in air temps could cause it, the seal has gone bad or a leak somewhere in the system.

Haven't gone anywhere, I just dont post that much anymore.

well im going to get my car towed to a mechanic who specifically only works on VW and audi's so that he can diagnose the car for the problem but hopefully it is just a slave cylinder but roughly how much would a clutch replacement cost for an A4?
