I'm conceding, you win, the CVT is crap.

What's acceleration and smoothness when it's unreliable and unpractical? It's still a POS

Me too. I'm glad it's not my problem anymore. Now I have to transfer all my mods to the new one. Oh well, I'm actually looking forward to it. She's a virgin I can't see any signs that the car has ever had any work done whatsoever. Not a single screw or bolt is marred or appears to have ever had a tool fitted to it. I can't believe how pristine it is.
You may think it's good that it's never had a single bolt taken out, but wait til YOU have to take those bolts out for mods or repairs, it's gonna be a b!tch GL

^You are 100% correct euro2nr without reliability its a POS. It pisses me off that they even put it on the market. Even more so that I defended it. They make money hand over fist off people who are replacing them and it's disgusting.
As far as the repairs and upgrades I'll gladly deal with stubborn bolts versus trying to remedy half-assed repairs. Not saying all repairs are half-assed just saying that no one could care about my car and the quality of the repairs like I do. Like the old saying goes, if you want it done right do it yourself. Man, I can't wait to get started.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Car's been like a tank. I've even had comments on how well it ran at it's current mileage. Sorry about your experience with the CVT.

Audi USA for the service, support, repair fail.
Audi for the design fail.

Overall, they are still "above average" in reliability/satisfaction surveys, but come one, they could do WAY better on this kind of thing.

My fiance's cousin is a quality and technical manager for VAG. He did some internal research for me on my old CVT A4, told me the car has actually had three replacement transmissions. WTF!!!! If the dealer actually replaces it and doesn't just send it to auction that will be 5 transmissions. 5 complete transmission replacements in 71084 miles. I'm at a loss for words... BTW carfax listed only one of the transmission replacements.

I'm on my 2nd CVT. First one lasted 90,000 miles. This one is the newer one with 7-plate clutch instead of the old 5-plate design. I'm hoping that lasts as long as the rest of the car does (250,000?). Anyway, I guess we'll see.

I was told the fluid was life-time... then I had to pay almost $6000 for a new transmission. I'm going to be replacing the fluid this time at 130,000 and every 40,000 thereafter.

Anyway, good luck.... I wish I had a manual, but man these CVT's drive like a dream... not to mention the rest of the car driving great...
