Default Info center brake light error

Hey there folks,

I recently bought a 2004 A4 1.8T. Being used, it has a couple of items the previous owner didn't care to address, which I want to take care of as I start my ownership of the car. Most I have under control. Parts ordered and plans to do the repairs.

One item I am having trouble finding answers for is that the information center between the tach and speedo is telling me the rear driver's side brake light is not working. However, this light, as well as all the others, is working as it should.

When I stand behind the car and my wife presses on the brake peddle the lights illuminate as they should. And yet.... the warning light in the information center still tells me the brake light is malfunctioning.

Any ideas about how to do this repair?

i would inspect wires to make sure they are no fraying wires. Plug in tight and then check again. If problem persist u might have a bad ccm or ecm.
