K&N filter and stock air filter

Default K&N filter and stock air filter

Just changed the stock air filter on my Audi A4 1.8T 2005 to a K&N air filter , was pretty easy to replace , but first thing i saw it s that the K&n one is was smaller in height , half the stock one , is it really like that the differences between a stock one and the one from KN

paper filters aren't oiled, so they need more surface space to collect dust and debris. K&N filters are oiled and made of better materials, so need less space to do the same job. Be careful with oiled filters though. If you read all over this site, the oil from the filter could screw up your MAF pretty bad if you don't keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the heads up , ive read a bit about it before i change , and as long i dont oil it up too much when is the time to be clean everything should be fine , the problem is when people oil the filter too much from what i keep reading .

just oil your filter let it sit in the sun for a few hours then stick it in there.

But.....something to think about...how is a K&N able to draw more air?

Bigger holes to suck air through=more dirt ingested by your engine.

There have been numerous studies done on this. Google it.

I'll go make some popcorn now.....
