Anyone ever hear of this?

Oil control rings? I'm curious about that as well. I just finished replacing the camshaft adjuster gasket, which is what the dealer told me was the cause of my massive oil leak. Put it all back together, put on new cam bolt plugs as well, started up and ran perfect. Took it around the block a few times, parked it in the garage and oil is running all down the front of the engine still. Looks like I didn't even do anything.
I'm going back in later this week to replace the camshaft adjuster seals which I believe are the rubber o-rings on the actual adjuster itself? The only other seal behind the timing cover that I know of are the front camshaft seals which I may just replace too since I'll be in there and don't want to rip the whole thing apart for a third time.
$1300 in parts seems absolutely ludicrous. Audi wanted to charge me $1700 for the adjuster gaskets, which are $20 a piece, and I needed two since I have the 3.0L.
ETA: Where is your oil leak primarily? Is it accumulating below the main crank pulley? That's where mine is ending up, but I can see oil lining the timing belt covers and must be originating up towards the top of the engine, I'm assuming by the camshafts.

Yea, If your oil rings are broken your screwed...... You can throw that estimate out the window.
Cause the pieces will spin and chew up the tensioner assembly and even dig into the head. Causing massive oil leak.
Worst case senario is replacing the head and tensioner.
Hopfully the bolts just came out and all you have to do it replace the cam sprocket and tensioner gasket.
But you'll never know until the entire front of the motor is taken apart. Which is 4 hours of diagnosis you'd have to commit to without even knowing the extent.
what i'm curious about... is how the dealer knows its the rings.... You can't see them. The rings are not common failure, unless a repair was made prior and someone screwed up installing them.
