Looking to buy a 03 A4 some questions..
I would look this car over carefully and ensure all service has been done and that it has been well cared for. Find the dealer that performed the service or take it to a dealer. A clutch shouldn't be required at under 50,000 miles, and cats, I know they are under warranty, shouldn't need to be replaced. Road rash on the wheels, missing emblem would be a warning sign to me, in addition to the clutch and cats, that would make me proceed cautiously.
As I said about mine, it has had no problems at all, the only money I've spent at the dealership has been on regular service, and I have taken car of it outside the dealership. So it can give many miles of trouble free driving. Not cared for and it can be a headache. Make sure you get the former.
Good luck.

I'm not too worried about the emblem missing, Some kids ripped off my bimmer hood emblem when I was in a mall for only an hour or so. Thats just hoodlems for you. The clutch might concern me a little, I'll ask him about it, but my first impression of him is not him being a race hungry person, but who knows. This might have been his first stick he could have had a lot of issues going in first and riding it through the rest. I had a friend who only let the pedal out half way constantly, and would wind the hell out of it in first, so irritating! I'm still waiting for the shop report I'm suppose to get that today. So we'll see how that goes. Carfax looked good, however I didn't see the fuel pump recall on there. I'll call the dealership on that one too, they should also be able to replace the emblem?
Bought the same car last August for my daughter, with 69k miles for $13k. Always serviced at dealer, private sale. They had been asking $14.9.
First, you will love having quattro when it snows. Just make sure you have good all-season tires. I have had good luck with Pirelli 4-season on my A6. Blizzaks are even better, I hear. I wouldn't worry about the missing OOOO. It just may be an opportunity to de-badge the rest of the rear. Agree that replacing cats and clutch are concerns -- reduce your offer accordingly. Even if the book calls for timing belt at 105k, it is an interference engine and I would change the TB at 80-90k to be safe.

Ok, so I just got the car last night, drives great, some questions. I can't find the dimmer switch, gauges seem to get dimmer near the 0's on both gauges, any way I can adjust this? Also, How do I turn the vent on without having the AC on?? Lastly the Headlights seem to need a little adjusting, It has the HID's, can these be tilted manually or? Second lastly, How I open just the vent/tilt on the sunroof?? As for the tires its got Blizzaks on it now, its not cold here yet, and I have no place to store them if i get some all seasons, so hopefully they'll last until then! Thanks!!!

one last thing, the engine runs great, especially inside the car, no noise or vibrations. However when I'm outside, sounds somewhat loud, especially near the drivers front, like a "dry rubbing" sound is best to describe it, any ideas? Or these engines just typically noisy? And why do some B6's not have dimmers?
