Default Looking to Buy a 2002 Audi A4

I have been looking into these cars. I love the b6's and want one. I found a 5 speed 1.8T sedan with 109k miles. This is the lowest miles i have found. The car looks awesome and drives like a dream. i am not sure what goes wrong with these cars. i heard that a couple things go wrong with them at about 90k, and the guy says he fixed everything and is getting the proof for me. How long do these cars last for. Can I expect to get past 200k? anything you guys would suggest or have expierence in how long they last or how much i will spend to keep it running. Thanks guys

80k is when the timing belt is due to be changed, I'd make sure the guy has some solid receipts to show its been done. From what I understand the 1.8T's blow up quick if it's not done real close to te 80K, it could be a good sign it's still going at 109K. If he can't show you hard proof I wouldn't make a deal until you get quotes to get it done, mine cost $1200 as a reference.
Don't be afraid to say you want to take it to a mechanic you trust to have them check it out, if you don't have a mechanic lined up most places will do a full check for under $100. Better to spend that than end up with a lemon, IMHO.

all the stuff is pretty run of the mill. check for coil pack recalls, and see if theres only been synthetic oil run in the engine (they have sludge issues that can cause a loss of oil pressure due to a strained then failing oil pump).

also, water pump/timing belt service, and valve cover gaskets are big issues. make sure the Tbelt service has been done on this car, and if it hasn't, then use it a bargaining chip for price negotiations.

a leaky rear transmission seal isnt out of the ordinary, but it doesn't always go bad.

as far as longevity, there are a number of people on the forums with pretty high miles, and i know a few 1.8t VWs that have made it up there. 200k should be doable as long as you take care of normal maintenance
