Default My A4 is about to be burnt in the drive way....

So my wife wants to buy an suv, so the 03 A4 quattro with 52miles has to go. I figured before we try to sell, it would be a good idea to take care of the check engine light (p0441), and the oil sensor light (only came on 2days ago), along with the burnt out left rear fog light (this has been a battle for over a year).

Started off with the engine code and replaced the Purge Control Valve even though I couldn't blow through the original one, but since I couldn't see any cracked or damaged lines we went for it..... No luck, after hours of checking lines and check valves I finally took off the hard line that runs behind the engine and blew compressed air into it. The damn thing was plugged!!!! no idea how but it was, some white stuff came out of it (every other part & line was clean as a whistle). So after about 8hrs Problem 1 fixed! (oh and I put the old valve back on just to see if it was ok and it works like a champ).

Then I bought a new oil sensor, and replaced it, no go. Did some diggin in on the forum and seen that the water temp sender or the fuse could also be the problem. Fuse's are good, and replaced water sensor with a new one (also flushed coolant while I was at it). Still no go. Then I went @ the wire harness, no broken or damaged wire going to the sensor. So now I'm stumped.......

Next, this left rear fog light has been a pain in the *** since we got the car!!! the bulb was burnt out, but the screw was stripped. Ended up killing the lens and removing the screw. So Bought new lens and light bulb, now it works but the damn warning light on the cluster still comes on 80% of the time we drive the car! I've tried everything, even cleaned all the contacts for the light clip, its spotless and the light is bright.

So if anyone has some input on ideas to try that would be awesome!!!!!

For the light, the way that sensor works is by detecting whether the amount is current flowing is correct. Make sure you have 100% the correct bulb in there.

As for the oil sensor light, maybe it needs an oil change? I know my moms volvo had a similar issue with that light and i changed the oil and it went away for good. Sometimes you can get sludge in the filter or pump and it wont read the correct amount of pressure.

I may be wrong on both of these, but worth a shot if you don't have any better ideas. Another thing is, some cars need all those lights "reset" after you fix the problem.

And if its a 1.8qtm I may be interested in buying it as I am on the prowl for one right now, pm me when it's for sale.

Good luck.

Turns out I went full retard! Was sitting here thinking of what else it could be then I realized that there was another sensor in the pan! I friggin changed the oil presure sensor NOT the level sensor. Just ran out side, unplugged the pan sensor, felt dirty. Quick clean, plugged it in and its working perfect!

Now just have to fix the light, I did use a factory bulb, will buy another and try again.

Its a 1.8T trip awd, but were in BC Canada!
