Exclamation Need Help and Advice on buying an A4!!

Hi, I went to view a 2001 Audi A4 130 TDI SE Here is the link:

http://www.reallymeansounds.com/moto...x.php?id=11508

I have a few questions I would like to ask Audi A4 owners and not the person who is trying to sell me the Audi.

1. The original Audi radio is in the car, is this replacable with an aftermarket radio system because it looks built into the dash.

2. The buttons on the Climate Control unit are all worn, is this normal for Audi's? Is the unit replaced easily from a breaking car?

3. There is a current problem with the back doors. They will not open from the inside or from the outside, the fella selling the car said it just needs attached to the computer and it's an easy fix, he said around £70 would do it. Has anyone heard of this problem before? I might tell him to get it sorted before I buy it.

Also there is a button inside that says ESP, I pressed it and nothing happened. What is it for?

Also do you think the above car is worth £4000? (thats what I ma paying if I take it) Any common problems I should know about before buying?

Please help!!

The radio is replacable, you just have to use an adapting bracket, because its not quite a double-din radio.

Its a common problem for ALL the buttons to peel. Honestly, I think most of us have learned to deal with that issue.

The back doors not opening sounds like there is something wrong with the locks. If my memory serves me, they are vacuum controlled. I would have him fix that issue first, before you buy it.

Also, make sure he has done the timing belt on the car, otherwise that will be an easy $1000 repair. Audi recommends replacing it every 80k miles.

Maybe I'm crazy but that doesn't look like a 2001.

I know right! It looks more like an '02... but maybe it is where the car is from... Second on the ESP, my car came without the owner's manual so I have no Idea what the button does, a little warning triangle with a surrounding arrow comes on on the dashboard when I press it but that's it.

This is the Electronic Stability Programme, which should should always be ON while driving, unless you are performing some stunts requiring the car to skid.
