Default Need info on CVT Trans Probs

Hello, I just bought a 2002 Audi A4 B6 with a CVT Trans and 73k miles. Does any one know if there are signs for when the transmission is going out? Do these cars always have problems with the transmission? I just hope that i didnt buy a car that is going to give me lots of problem. Any info would help. Thanks

Don't have the CVT myself, but the general consesus seems to be that its not a question of if it will die on you, its simply when.

So i should probably get a good extended warranty. Does anyone know around what mileage the cvt will give out? should i try to take the car back? Thanks

I have heard of CVT cars last up to 220k miles w/out major work done on them. Truth of the matter is, who knows how your car was really treated. If like crap, then maybe the trans won't last long. Coming from someone who has had his TCM (trans control module) replaced at Audi's expense with 40k on the clock, i would say don't buy a CVT that you haven't babied yourself from the start. get a quattro. Most quattro automatics are 'tiptronic' transmissions, not cvt. so best of luck
