well i just recently bought my car and have been noticing very poor gas mielage and also a smell that is out of the ordinary. Basically my car smells like unburned fuel, alot, and alot of backfires. Im not to sure what to do about this and such so if someone could help me out that would be great.

 

do u have any engine fault codes? sounds like a coilpack failed or the cat is burned up? if it runs rough, its probably the coilpack

 

it has a small problem while going through boost such as it sputters a tad, as far as cats, there are none

 

if you pop the hood and smell unburned fuel, its definitley a bad coilpack because that fuel is just sitting there in the cylinder not combusting.
