Default New member - buying A6 - Help please

Hello all -

I am new (first post) so I am sorry if this is not in the right spot. Is this a good deal? I am looking at a 2004 A4 S line AWD 100,000 miles asking $7,900. He says that price is firm. After looking around I think it might be a good deal and I think I am going to pull the triger.

Anything that I should be worried about? Any common problems that I should have checked out? KBB says the price should be like 10-11K. Any input would be great. I have always loved audi so I think I will love this car.

Or I found a 01 Audi A4 FWD with 94,000 miles for $6,900 which only made me think the 04 was a much better deal. Any big difference from an 01 to an 04?

Sorry guys I need to do a lot of research so I hope you can all help!!

Well after reading around on this site it looks like buying an audi without knowing what or who has or has not done as far as maintance is not very smart. Am I correct in thinking I could buy this car and if it has not been properly taken care of It could cost me $3,000+ on belts and other issues? Not to mention I could have sludge issues?

I was all excited, but I can not afford to get this car and have major (anything over $1000 is major to me) issues. I need to buy it and have it last me two years or 50,000 miles or so with no major issues. Anyone here have an a4 that has lasted that long? Now I dont know what to do

And yes, you can expect large bills for fixing things that will undoubtedly go wrong, unless you find the madonna a4 that has never had a problem. In three years my service stuff would have been about 5k if my car hadn't been under warranty, and probably 10 if I fixed everything that needs to be fixed right now.

That is very disconcerning to say the least. Maybe this is not the best idea, I really cant afford 5k+

If you can work on your own car you might be ok, but you'd still want to make sure the owner has kept up the maintenance, and has records to prove it.
