New member hello
I have worked on restoring VWs for just under 30 years. Karmann Ghia,s are where I started - I must have loved stylish rust! I am self taught in all trades, welding, body paint, mechanics and custom plastic work in the last few years.
My last three projects have been a 2001 TDI Jetta dead auto trany. I did a 5 speed swap and complete restoration with custom pieces. Two MK5 Jetta TDI's, my wife doesn't let me play with hers but I have built a really nice custom DSG/TDI.
I have a bucket list like lots of us getting long in the tooth. I want to drive the west coast down to Oregon for the Kit festival in late June this year. So I have stepped up to AUDI, and I love this car. 2003 A4 Convertible 1.8l FWD sport package with the dreaded dead CVT. I will be looking for help getting this car going and thank all members for their technical expertize.
I would love to swap in a manual six speed, however, the buck list is for real and I can't physically manage a manual transmission for any length of time.
So, I am looking to drop a GBF transmission in with the full quattro upgrade.
I will work on custom styling after the car is up and running.
Once again, Thanks to the Audi community, I appreciate your passion for amazing engineering and styling.
Sincerely
Ian
