Default New owner first question

I just bought an '04 A4 1.8, 73k miles. Silver, black. Car has no owner's manual and it looks like a manual is not available online. I think I've figured most things out but one. In the part of the display where the trip computer is - average mpg, etc - there is a "1" in the upper right. What does that "1" mean? Does it change to a "2" or something? If so, how? Thanks.

I think that might be for "Driver #1." You can record mpg's and all that data for 2 different drivers. You should be able to scroll through everything by clicking the buttons on the end of the windshield wiper stalk, and after all of #1's data, it'll switch to "2". You can buy an Owner's manual on ecstuning.com for like 80 bucks. Enjoy the new car!

The "1" is for driver 1. Not sure about the older cars, my oldest was 2002, but the newer ones have a button underneath the wiper arm for switching from driver to driver.

I have a 2003 and it has the same thing, small button on the bottom of the windshield wiper stalk, will switch between '1' and '2'. Real quick though, have you looked under the steering wheel for the owners manual? I had no idea it was there until I read a random thread on here.

Thanks. The button worked. I was holding it too long. No luck on an owner's manul under the steering wheel.
