Default Newbie with TCM issue

Hello all, I am new to the forum but i am sure the issue with my 2003 At 1.8 T that got me here is not so new.

TCM seems to be the problem. Car does not engage fully in reverse. Light flashing in dash. DEalership looking for approx 1700.00 to replace.

I was told i could get the part myself for around 500.00 and get it installed somehwere for 100.00 Anyone have some expereince with this ???

wow, 1700 is a bunch, but the only thing is finding someone that knows how to work on Audis... Stick with the dealer is probably your best bet, although if you look around your area you might find a reputable Euro shop that might do it for cheaper and have the same warranty as an audi dealer... Also are you completely sure is the TCM? I've read similar problems as being the little triptronic switch right below the transmission leever, although sometimes it doesn't fix the problem, is about 300 bucks but it might not be your problem...
