The part # and cost depends on whether it is the pre-cat or post-cat sensor you're replacing, and whether you buy the OEM product or a universal product. Go to ecstuning.com to get the part #/price info.

I replaced both driver's side sensors on my 02 A4 3.0 earlier this summer using the standard O2 sensor tool kit you can rent at the auto parts stores. You can get at the pre-cat from the top and the post-cat from below. You will want/need to move the coolant reservoir out of the way, but you don't need to disconnect any hoses, just remove the screw that secures the reservoir.

Correct, plus the 3.0 choices are engine code AVK or BGN. 135-157 dollars is the range of pricing depending on before or after cat, and engine code. So that gets you a ball park price range for the OEM Audi oxygen sensor, per each. I'd need your vin # to get you exact pricing.

I'm doing this same job on my 02 3.0L A4 this weekend. Any tips or advice? I heard the Driver's side pre-cat sensor (Bank 2 Sensor 1) is hard to get to and the job is supposed to take 3.5 hrs at the shop??

06c-906-265b is the part # for both front o/2's , 06c-906-265 is the part # for the l/r sensor.
Removed coolant bottle , i also remove both cam sensor connectors to get my fat hands down there. o/2 sensor tools will be needed.

Your engine should be an AVK & if i am not mistaken the rear sensor is also done from the top. Be careful if you are doing the rear , the connector pins will have to be removed from the car side of the connector & switched the a new connector.

Cesarzlu,

I found the pre-cat sensor easier to replace than the post-cat sensor, as the pre-cat sensor is accessed from above, in the engine compartment, and the post-cat sensor is accessed from under the car. I didn't time how long it took me to replace the pre-cat sensor, but I would guess it took me a lot less than 3.5 hours.

Thanks for the reply!

I decided to tackle the project last night. I accessed the Pre-cat sensor from under the car. It wasn't as bad a job as I thought. I didn't really have to remove anything to get to it. I used a universal kit from the local Auto store and it took me about an hour (will be faster the second time around) It seems to me that the downstream sensors would have to accessed from the top since they sit right on top of the cat and you can only see them from above.

I have a 2002 A4 3.0L quattro 6sp.
