Default OEM HID Color temp question

Hi!
I just replaced the halogen housings with oem xenon housings. Worked perfectly fine {well of course the auto-leveling doesn't work} but my question is more on the color temp.

On startup, the lights are white but as it warms up, it turns into slight yellow hue.

Is this normal or is this a sign that the lights are going soon?

Thanks

you have an 05, your light's shouldnt be going out yet... they should last a very long time but change in color is usually a sign of the bulb on its way out..

Thanks ThreePointOhhh

Though my B6 is an 05, the xenon housings I put in were from an 02. Dunno if the 5yrs or so will make these bulbs go out soon.

when you switch from halogen to HID oem of course your leveler will not work because your car doesnt have the program to make it function properly. You would probably need to vag it to make it work. As for the color of your oem HID, the temperature is 4300k and yes it does stay white in the beginning but fades to yellowish white. It doesnt mean that its going bad. If your HID's were turning a faint pink or a very dim gray and it starts flickering on its own, then you will need to replace them because they are about to burn out soon. But if youre uncomfortable with 4300k then buy some D1S bulbs with 6000k. This is an ideal color for better vision at night, and it gives it an aggressive look to the car. Get some matching Foglight HIDS for enhanced vision.

4300k actually gives the whitest light and is also the brightest. 6000k seems brigther because it turns everything blue... which i find annoying. The bulbs are cycling they will keep turning differnt colors until the reach the point where they start flickering. Since you took them from an '02 that would justify them changing color. just change the bulbs if you want them to be nice and white again.

as for autoleveling, you cannot enable that with vag-com, they're 2 sensors on the drivers side front and rear suspensions that need to be installed which is not cheap and totally not worth the hassle.
