Unhappy OEM Radio Trouble

I have a 2003 A4 Cabriolet with the stock "Symphony II" stereo system. It uses a hidden antenna (aerial) that runs from the back of the radio, through the cabin and into the trunk lid where it attaches to two boxes known as the "aerial amplifiers".

I'm talking about the 2 p/n's "15" on the vagcat page when you follow this link: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/au/A4C...73/48/3592393/
If you want to see some photos, let me know and I can post some.

The problem is, I can't pick up any radio stations. My suspicion is that one of the aerial amplifiers is bad because if I touch a particular wire going into the first aerial amp box, I can pick up stations. When I let go, the stations go away. For all you old guys out there, it reminds me of trying to adjust rabbit ears on the top of a TV...it works great until you go sit down to enjoy it! Anyway, I think that when I touch it, I become the antenna, thus the better reception.

This all leads me to believe that one or both of the aerial amplifiers is bad.

Has anyone else run into similar issues? I think the A4 Sedan has the same type of aerial system as my Cabriolet...Have any of you been in the same situation I am in? Any fixes to throw at me?

Thanks in advance.

H.

Shane,
Did you have both boxes replaced? What did it cost?

I thought there was just one, and it was done under warranty.
