Default Oil Breather

A4 B6 2.0L

I have recently noticed a bit of soot in my exhaust tail pipe. This forced me to check under the hood to see if there are any suspicious areas other than the possibility of piston/oil rings allowing oil into the cylinders. I noticed that the rocker cover gasket was leaking. Bought one genuine VW audi gasket and fitted it. However while taking apart the cover I noticed some oil in the breather. the thing in blue borders in the pic. the red lines solid/dotted are where i detected a leak. My question: Is the oil in the breather (1)responsible for soot in my tail pipe (2)associated with a failing rocker cover gasket or is there another problem coming my way soon? Please B sixers HELP HELP HELP!
