oil dip stick snapped and drain washer questions
All,
I just found out my oil dip stick snapped when I was changing oil. After search, it seems happened a lot to our cars. Is anywhere I can buy a metal one instead of plastic dip stick for the car (2004 A4 3.0Q)?
Also, I got a copper drain washer from the dealer but I can't get the old one off from the plug. Can anyone tell me how to get it off so I can replace the washer?
Thanks.

RE: oil dip stick snapped and drain washer questions
Ha it happens A LOT but its not very hard to change! Just take a hold at the base and pull it right off, then pop the old one back on, just be carefull not to crack it even more when you take a firm grip. As for the metal one i have not found one aftermarket or stock, the 1.8 is the same on the jetta as it is on the A4, i have had my A4 a short while but i Had the jetta for ever, the piece sucks but like i said easy to change i have two spare in my garage lol!

RE: oil dip stick snapped and drain washer questions
Anyway, I found answers myself.
The oil dipstick snap happened very often to our cars (so does VW cars) due to its material. It seems no metal one available yet so I purchased one from ECS for $12 + S/H.
Audi has changed the design of drain plug bolt so the washer was pressed to it. That means you cannot getthe washeroff to replace it. (That explains why I cannot get the washer off from the bolt when I chaning my oil.) According to Audi, the washer should be good for lifetime. However, if someone insists to replace it, thenpurchase of a new drain plug bolt is needed unless decided to go aftermarket or different brands other than genuine Audi parts.
