Oil Leak 1.8T Quattro
I tried to search this problem, but am new. So I apologize if it is answered elsewhere. I store my A4 1.8T Quattro with about 90K on it for 6 months at a time and have done so for a few years. This time when I returned, there was about a cup of engine oil on the garage floor. It appeared to be coming from the aft part engine--about even with the dashboard. I can find no leak at the oil filter or around the engine looking down from the top. Any ideas as to what this might be? Or where to look? A rear seal was repaired under warranty at about 25K. Definitely engine oil and definitely far back. I have heard about problems with the plugged crankcase breather. Any place to look to confirm. I have had numerous misdiagnoses of issues with this car over its life that could have cost me a bundle. I am terrified to take this to the shop without some idea of what is going on.
I had an oil leak that might have been similar to yours. After taking it into a shop (that I trust) and getting on the lift it turned out to be a bad prop shaft seal. So it was leaking tranny fluid and not engine oil but I couldn't tell the difference from the spots on my driveway.
Wasn't that expensive to fix($160 parts and labor.)
