Default Oil Pressure

Hey all, new audi owner here. I have a 04 A4 1.8T and I noticed my oil pressure indicator keeps coming on. I didn't know if there was a known problem with this particular model or if I should just have it checked out by a mechanic. I just bought it from a dealership so I figured they would've inspected any problems. I heard something about oil leaks and having it drip in the oil pan and you won't tell you have a leak unless you check the pan. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Default Oil Pressure light

This is a concern of mine as well. My '02 1.8T has an oil light come on when decelerating from highway speeds and when driving at slow speeds, like 25 mph, through the neighborhood. It does not run rough and the light goes off after a bit.

Two years ago it did this and actually ran very poorly. as expected the oil screen in the pan was plugged with junk including the little orange plastic bumps found on the dip stick. Did I mention we where 1000 miles from home and had to go to a different shop.

It is back in the shop today and I need to tell the guy to drop the pan again or not. The dip stick still has all it's orange bumps so...... Apparently the OBD does not tell them anything useful, the pan seems to be the only place to look.

I have been running syn oil since the first oil change with the dealer and Audi has installed the plumbing change they created after the sludge problem was theirs to fix.

I'm at my wit end with this oil light. I don't want to sell the car for an electrical problem with no basis in actual operation. But, you can't go to the shop every time the light pops on. And which time is it really a problem.
