Default Passenger Window nightmare

It just started making horrible noises when I tried to roll it up or down. It stopped working in the all the way down position so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't rain.

Anyone seen this happen before?
What a mess!!

Wow. Never seen that before. That is the cable that is connected to your regulator which, well, regulates the movement of the window - either up or down. It works similar to a pully/spool system. The white piece which is snaps/connects to your motor is the spool. My regulator has broken and until I could get it fixed I had to manually push the window up with my hands. If the cable is still connected to the window regulator, you may try to disconnect it by cutting the cable (seeing as how the cable is pretty much reusable at this point) and then taping the window in the up position.

I just had the same problem

If you want to fix it yourself its cheap and easy (~$110)

to roll your window back up you will probably have to cut your cables since yours are so badly kinked (how long did you try to roll the window up to get it to look like that?)

anyway go to this link to get familiar with taking apart your door, i found it only after i took my door apart but its of great help and much like the passenge side door. http://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/1080681.phtml

then go here to order your part http://www.genuinevwaudiparts.com/ its called a window regulator as stated above.

make sure that the teeth on the motor's pinion (gear) are not stripped or else this might be costly.

anyway order the part and take the door apart, its a straightforward repair. pm me if you have any questions.

make sure you have all the torx bits required. T45 is the biggest you will need.
