Long story short my battery died and after I jumped the car the fuel / gas gauge is no longer working. Please help.

2003 A4 1.8T Avant quattro

 

I just filled my '02 A4 Quattro 1.8T and the fuel gage stopped working too. It showed an 1/8 for awhile but now it is on E. And the low fuel warning is on. But I know I just filled it.

Any suggestions?

Do a search for "fuel sending unit" and you'll find the info on how to fix it.

 

I read some more and I found that several gauge problems exhibiting the same symptoms as mine were fixed by unhooking the battery for several minutes.

It worked! I guess it is like a reboot for the ECU. Go figure.
