Default Please help quick

Hey, I am obviously not an a4 guy, but i am working on my mom's friends. I am replacing the rear brake pads. The first wheel(rear passenger) went smoothly, but the cylinder on the rear driver side stopped moving back after a certain point.
I am using needlenose pliers for a tool and they were working just fine. I kept twisting it and twisting it and realized that it wasnt retracting. I kinda panicked and without thinking pressed the brakes to see if i could just start over and it would keep going. it didnt and instead got so close together that i cant put the old ones back on. stupid mistake I know.
I am scared that i have damaged the caliper somehow and owe her a new one. Please help with anything that you can. Anything is appreciated!!!!

I understand that i need a tool. but i learned that it can be done with a pair of needlenose pliers. it worked for one side, but the driver side spins but does not retract.

Open the bleeder valve and try again to push the piston in.
